Bertram Fiddle Succeeds In Kickstarting Its
Sequel, Possible Trilogy
The ‘Leading Victorian Explorator’ is back, all thanks to fans who donated to get Episode 2 off the ground. Despite not entirely hitting their goal, the crew at Rumpus has announced that the game is good to go. They are still seeking nearly £38,000 to ‘help finish’ their newest entry in their comedic point and click adventure game, and will be fighting for those last day stretch goals. Episode 1 has been met with mostly positive reviews and was released in April of this year.
The studio is nearing its campaign’s finish and is currently at 36 thousand in backer support. Despite not hitting the goal yet, series writer, illustrator, and creator Seb Burnett went onto the project’s comment section to say, “It IS happening! Thank you EVERYONE!”
Even though Episode 1 released internationally too much praise, the studio opted to seek out financial support from its community. On the campaign page, the developers clarify, “despite our best efforts, we haven’t quite made enough sales to pay for the full production of the next episode. We’ve been toiling away on other projects and have managed to save up some of the money we need, but time waits for no man and we NEED to finish this story soon!”
The game continues the search for Geoff The Murder, in a game that not only parodies Sherlock Holmes but features the man himself. With your trusty sidekick Gavin, you’ll go out in search of clues and witnesses in an attempt to bring the unsavory rapscallion to justice. The developers are hoping to make this entry “bigger and better and more puzzlier than the first.” They’ve also stated that this game will close out the Geoff storyline.
As the team will most likely reach their goal, the stretch goals are now a much more likely thing. At £55,000, the team is promising a third, brand new episode of Bertram Fiddle. The team even hints that the series will travel the world, saying “he can have Adventures anywhere.” This game is promised to anyone who backs from the £5 tier and above, and that it would be delivered “sometime in 2017.” So for a little more, it would seem the team is ready to double down on their development.
There are several rewards still available to nab, so fans may want to help contribute to those stretch goals. These rewards are a packet of stickers, original ink drawings of characters, a ‘Marvo Says Relax’ T-Shirt, a 96-page full-color art book, printed copies of scripts, a book-shaped tin, and an eight-inch replica of Gavin. The statue is cast in resin, hand-painted, and limited to only 20.
