Its Minecraft meets Counter-Strike in Ghostshark’s First-Person Shooter series Blockstorm, and they’re adding some additional features to their already impressive series. A brand new update promises to bring additional weapons and an assortment of different vehicles to the gunfight.
Developers have now added in vehicles, known in the game as Mechas, and they offer a variety of unique elements. Players can request one of these vehicles at the game’s various engage platforms, but a timer will keep you from this useful vehicle until the timer reaches zero. Players can reduce this time by taking out enemies while they wait for it to spawn.
The great thing is, these vehicles offer more than just four wheels and a gas pedal; they can perform some useful and dangerous traits. They’ll be able to jump long distances, something very effective for getting across the massive maps quickly. They can also glide by double tapping the jump button. They’re very fast, so using them as a weapon is a definite possibility. If your enemies are able to take out your Mecha’s armor, a self-destruct countdown is started allowing you to eject after placing your vehicle in its most optimal position.
Blockstorm isn’t done playing Santa in July; they’re also giving fans three new guns to enjoy. There’s a powerful minigun with a chain full of devastating rounds, for those of you who don’t mind ‘Ramboing’ your encounters. For those of you who’d rather feel like the Terminator, you can also play with a new “Fist” weapon that’ll tear through not only the terrain, but your enemies. Tearing through a wall and grabbing someone from behind would surely make the T-1000 proud, but if they do run you could always shoot them in the back with two high-speed rockets Iron Man style.
Ghostshark is also running an initiative program currently, where they challenge players to be in the top ten players for any given week. Monday morning, the developers look over the leaderboards, and will reward those destructive enough to make it to the top with an Indiegala Every Monday Bundle. What’s in the bundle? It’s a secret to everyone. You’ll just have to win to find out what the prize will be for that week.
Blockstorm already offers a full range of customization, all the way down to your character’s designs, so having additional guns to play around with should make this an even more enriching experience. The update should be available now, so hop onto Steam and check it out. For more articles on Blockstorm, keep reading Mouse n Joypad for future updates.
