Introducing Evolve’s New Monster: Wraith
This week, the final monster for Evolve, the 4v1 monster hunting new IP from Turtle Rock Studios, was revealed via the Xbox One dashboard. It is known as Wraith and it will join the ranks of Goliath and Kraken for the launch of the game on all current gen consoles and PC on February 10th.
Where Goliath is the ground pounding King Kong inspired bruiser and Kraken is the Cthulu flying squid that loves lightning, Wraith is a grim reaping snake that uses the element of surprise and stealth to it’s advantage. With the ability to line up sight and teleport to a hunter to snatch him or her up, and take them back into the wild to finish them off and then finish his meal, hunters will have to stay together more than ever when dealing with this beast. He/she/it(?) also has the option to get out of a losing fight or distract the hunters with the Decoy ability that sees the Wraith go invisible and produce an identical twin that will be sure to mess with the hunters coordination, allowing him to use his Supernova primary attack that sends it into a scythe swinging whirlwind that does deadly AOE damage. The addition of Wraith really rounds out the monster spectrum of the game, allowing players a variety of ways to play as each monster’s gameplay mechanics are dramatically different from one another.
Stealth and misdirection seem to be key for using Wraith as his armor and health are noticeably smaller than the other monsters, which means the player controlling him will have to be more picky about when and where he chooses to fight. He might be the most tricky of monsters to get the hang of but also the most gratifying when used right.
2K and Turtle Rock are showing off the new addition to the monster squad tonight on Twitch at 6 p.m.(EST), watch it here.
The crew here at Mouse n Joypad can’t wait to get our hands on Wraith and Evolve this February, how about you? Sound off in the comments below and let us know.
