Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter Trailer Revealed
Publisher Bigben Interactive and developer Frogwares have just released the new trailer for their upcoming adventure game Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter, which you can watch below.
The Devil’s Daughter trailer, entitled A Mystic Trip, features a mysterious girl who shows up at Holmes door, which leads him to chase her through the alleys of London as the world seems to crumble all around them. The trailer was produced by studio UNIT Image, who has produced CG trailers for several AAA titles including The Division, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, and World of Tanks. They have received numerous awards for their CGI trailers and films.
The Devil’s Daughter is the eighth game in the Sherlock Holmes series developed by Frogwares and is the first to not be published by Focus Home Interactive since 2007, as Bigben Interactive will be publishing it instead. The title will be a “unique adventure game that blends exploration, investigation and action for a breath-taking and fantastic playing experience,” according to the developer and publisher. The game will have you playing as the series titular character and features intense action sequences and an open world to explore (as opposed to the more linear settings of the previous installment Crimes and Punishments), as well as the mystery-solving gameplay the series is known for. The premise for the upcoming game was described in a recent press release:
“What led young Katelyn to 221B Baker Street? Could she have discovered the dark truth about her family? And who is the charming clairvoyant who has moved into 221C? Is there room for séances and occult rituals in the bastion of logic and rationalism? For the first time in his prestigious career, the most illustrious of detectives must fight not to reveal a secret, but to keep one…”
The premise’s description is pretty vague, though perhaps that’s for the best, as discovering the main mystery within games like this firsthand is probably more satisfying than having anything revealed to you prior.
Founded in 2000, The Devil’s Daughter’s developer, Frogwares, is an independent studio based in Dublin, Ireland and Kiev, Ukraine. Over the years, they’ve developed numerous titles such as Journey to the Center of the Earth, Dracula: Origin, Magrunner: Dark Pulse, and, of course, numerous titles in the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes series, the first of which was The Mystery of the Mummy released in 2002.
Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter is slated for release on May 27 of this year for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
