Assassin’s Creed Unity

Customisation and Co-op Trailer

Â

Ubisoft have treated us to a more in depth look at their upcoming next gen Assassin’s Creed title: Assassin’s Creed Unity.  Alex Amancio, Creative Director for Unity shares details of the customisation options we will be using when Assassin’s Creed Unity is released in November. In the trailer Amancio showcases some of the visual customisation options we will have in the game as well as talking about character progression. Different weapons and armour will affect how you play, heavy armour will increase the damage you can take but will make you less stealthy and an agile weapon will increase your parry defence but will suffer when dealing damage. Amancio goes on to state that there are thousands of combinations to suit everyone’s play style.

For the first time in an Assassin’s Creed game you will be able to choose how your character’s skills progresses. While there are no class definitions there are four main skill sets that are fully customisable and interchangeable.

  • Stealth – This will allow players to get closer to their enemies without drawing notice and will improve eagle vision. Become a shadow.
  • Melee – This skill set will allow you to deal more damage to enemies in combat, ideal for the brawler in us all.
  • Range – This skill improves on your parkour navigation and improves your “death from above” air assassinations.
  • Health – This skill grants greater health stats allowing the player to withstand more damage.

You can also tailor your skills in a “Custom” option to suit your own needs and desires.

Amancio ends the trailer by talking about some of the Co-op aspects, unique abilities like disguise and group healing can be shared through cooperative play. Brotherhood missions can be played solo or with a team of assassins with the newly designed “Player Rating System”. The Brotherhood missions will tie into specific events in the French Revolution, we are told all of these missions are open ended and replayable.

It is a new level of customisation for the franchise and looks to grant players more freedom than previous instalments. It’s like Amancio say’s – “In a revolution this bloody, you must adapt or die”.
