Minecraft is known for its huge success in the gaming industry. Itâs brought adults and children together in gaming, without having to pretend the controller was plugged in. Some of the gameâs popularity comes from the free updates to all compatible systems. Well developer Mojang saw this trend and announced that a Story Mode was to be developed at their Minecon event earlier this year. The stand-alone game which comes out on PC and Xbox One on the 13th October will be a 5 part episodic series. Although the episodes can be purchased separately, a season pass of all five episodes will be released on October 27th.
The First in the series is titles, âMinecraft: Story Modeâs The Order of the Stone.â In this episode, gamers will play as Jesse. Jesse can be either male or female depending on the playerâs choice. The female and male voiceovers are Catherine Taber and Patton Oswalt. The game follows a group of friends as they try to save the world, you know typical end of the world stuff. The group of friends are known as The Order and are the best at what they do: Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer, and Architect. Of course the game is for all age groups and has the usual Minecraft elements you would expect such as mining and crafting. In this story you will explore the Nether, the Farlands, the End and more. Each episode can vary in length but it is expected that you can finish an episode in around 2 hours.
Although Minecraft was developed by Mojang they will be collaborating with Telltale Games as well as members of the community. They have announced they will not be creating an official story for Steve, the main Minecraft character. Nor will they be explaining the world of Minecraft in detail. Telltale however has taken the controversial decision to not include multiplayer, one of the main reasons for the global success of Minecraft
Even though you wonât be able to just start digging or mining, as you would in typical Minecraft. You will will be able to utilise these elements through your choicesand incorporate them into the game. Although you can play Minecraft: Story Mode without having played the original Minecraft, you will get the full enjoyment if you have played the original.
