The Crew PC Requirements

Ubisoft have announced the PC requirements for their upcoming online racing game: The Crew.

In the trailer below The Cinematic Director from the game sows us some of the visual enhancements for the PC version of The Crew. Ubisoft have been working with Nvidea to squeeze as much out of The Crew as possible.

The Crew will feature HBAO+, this is a “high quality full resolution ambient occlusion technology”. HBAO+ is designed to add more detailed, richer and deeper shadows in game. In the trailer we are shown a comparison between the standard graphics and a build that is running HBAO+ and the difference is rather startling. Perhaps most importantly, we are told that this system won’t have a noticeable effect on the frame rate of the game.

In conjunction with the HBAO+, Ubisoft are also implementing Nvidea’s TXAA system. This will smooth the image when the camera is in motion, this being a driving game this would seem to be a major improvement. There is some technical jargon regarding pixel filtering but the end result is a clearer, smoother experience.
