The Witcher 3 Is The Biggest Game
Launch In The UK
Â
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the latest game from CD Projekt Red, is the largest game launch of 2015 in the UK. The data, provided by Chart-Track, tracks the sale of physical copies but does not track digital sales. For this reason, 63 percent of sales were on PS4, 32 percent Xbox One and 5 percent PC. The sales numbers eclipsed the record for first-week sales set by Battlefield: Hardline by an impressive 53 percent.
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings also enjoyed a hefty boost to sales with a 608% increase during the first week of the Witcher 3 release. The predecessor initially launched as a PC exclusive but was ported to the Xbox 360 one year later. Farming Simulator 15 arrived in second placed on the launch list with the additional releases on consoles after originally launching on PC.
CD Projekt Redâs latest title has also received many patches across all versions that address stability, performance, and graphics. The latest patch to the PC version improves high-end textures and allows for the remapping of all keyboard shortcuts and commands. Xbox One players can expect an upcoming patch that will add a 30 FPS lock to help improve stability. Marcin Momot, the community leader for CD Projekt Red, confirmed the existence of the patch to a user on Twitter earlier today. Additionally, various bug fixes have been implemented on all of the platforms with future stability patches to address some continued issues such as reports of save deletion on the Xbox One.
Free DLC is also coming to the Witcher 3 this week, as part of the sixteen pieces of free DLC that was promised before the gameâs launch. The additional content is in the form of a new cosmetic update for Yennefer and a new contract about the investigation into the disappearance of miners from a small Skellige village. More free content is still on the way, along with two planned full-length expansions that the developer said would together add 30 hours of additional gameplay.
