Warhammer fans have the chance to rejoice this festive period, after a long time without much information, Behaviour Interactive have released a brand new trailer for their upcoming MMO slaughterfest: Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade.
For long-time fans of the Warhammer brand this can only come as good news. Following the cancellation of the previous MMO that died when THQ went bust a few years ago, Behaviour Interactive have tried to keep the community updated with what they are trying to accomplish with their take on the Warhammer franchise.
The trailer is made up of gameplay footage that has been directly captured from the closed Alpha that is currently underway for people who have purchased one of the many âFounderâs Packsâ. The gameplay has been captured from one of the three maps that are available in the Alpha: Promethium.
It is clear that THQâs Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine has been a large influence in the aesthetic of the game, with what looks like the same jump pack mechanic and similar combat executions. In the trailer we only see two of the gameâs four factions, Space Marines and Traitor Marines as they battle it out.
There are a number of unit types we see from Devastator Marines, Raptors and Assault Marines as well as vehicles like the Predator Tank and what looks like a Rhino Transport. There are a fair few weapons on display too, including Power Axes, Chainswords, Las Cannons, Bolters and heavier weapons too.
The gameplay is looking impressive for an alpha with nicely rendered environments, a beautiful skybox and excellent visuals on the characterâs power armour. It is a short glimpse into the highly anticipated MMO shooter but from what we have seen, it looks like Behaviour Interactive are on the right track.
The game is currently still in development with an estimated release window of 2016 for the full game. Anyone interested in getting involved in future tests or want to contribute to the development of the game can purchase Founderâs Packs from the Eternal Crusade site HERE
Eternal Crusade is an MMO shooter that will feature a Free-to-Play race as well as three other races to play as for people who purchase the game. Orks (Free-to-Play), Space Marines, Eldar and Traitor Space Marines will feature in the full release with players making their own path in the 41st Millennium.
