The director for Kingdom Heartâs III, the popular JRPG/Disney game, has announced that the gameâs fundamental gameplay systems and mechanics are close to completion. Development has now moved towards mass production of areas and other elements. Tetsuya Nomura has said that while the basics are done, the team still has a lot of work to do as some aspects of the Disney-RPG sequel have yet to progress beyond the planning phase. Although no release date has been given, Square Enix is expected to make the announcement at D23 Expo 2015 although Tetsuya Norma recently confirmed that they already have a release date set in mind.
Nomura had the following to share:
âFor the most part weâve established the ground foundations, like the basic systems and mechanics of whatâs going to go in the game. Development of that is pretty much close to complete. But of course, since this is an HD title, itâs now building the resources, and development of the âmassâ elements of it, like mass production of the areas and the actual things that are going into the game. Other elements, including the mini-games and other various smaller items; their progress is very variedâ¦some of them are polished and very close to final state, but at the same time some elements are still in the planning phase, and I havenât laid out the groundwork yet. But the basic structure of whatâs going to go in the game is set, itâs now a matter of mass production.â
This follows the announcement that Kingdom Hearts III will make an appearance at the 2015 D23 (Disney fan expo) in August. Square Enix is expected to release new gameplay footage that will give us an idea if this instalment can live up to Square Enixâs previous titles.
Fans of the eagerly anticipated game were treated to trailer at E3 2015 which shows some of the worlds confirmed for the game. One of the worlds is based on âTangledâ and the other was from âHerculesâ, but there are many speculations are going around about what other films with make their debut in this third instalment. Many gamers are looking for a Star Wars themed world.
