Microsoft Game Plans

Let’s all be honest with each other, the Xbox One had a pretty bad release and a pretty crappy year but Microsoft has promised that 2016 will be better and with all honesty, I’m willing to believe it.

Aaron Greenberg, Microsoft Marketing Department, had this to say:

“We expect to sell more games next year and we have more game titles releasing next year than we do this year. If you start to look at that list of things that are coming, we have Quantum Break in April, Killer Instinct Season 3, Recore, Scalebound, Crackdown, Sea of Thieves, Halo Wars 2 and Gears of War 4 and probably some [games] we haven’t announced.”

From this list I must say that I will be getting pretty much all of these, except Killer Instinct because it’s not my thing, I must admit that this is an interesting move and one I would say could be successful.

Quantum Break is the Xbox’s flag ship for next year similar to Halo 5 for this year. I’ve never paid much attention to Quantum Break as anything that came out before Halo 5 was pretty much white noise, but now I have given it a quick look-see I am pretty excited for it, it stands up on a gameplay basis which is always a good thing but I’m not to big on the whole live action TV series that Microsoft is trying to sell but that’s a given. Quantum break will be released on the 5th of April 2016, so still a while away.

With the main focus on the Xbox One in 2016 and the Xbox 360 emulator coming later this year it is safe to say that the 360 console will soon be discontinued, people who own a 360 will be a bit miffed but it’s pretty much part for the course, I don’t know about you but I haven’t seen PS2 game for a while now, so…what did you expect.

The success of the Xbox One is largely positive in the eyes of the Microsoft devs with Greenberg also saying:

“Globally, if you look at Xbox One sales month by month and how we stack up against where the Xbox 360 was, and I think Xbox 360 was widely regarded as a huge success for us, we are month by month selling more Xbox Ones than we did Xbox 360s.”

2015 may have been rocky for the most part but it would be safe to say that 2016 will be the year of the Xbox so strap in people because shit is about to get real.
