New Devilian Developer Diary Video

Korean game developer Bluehole Ginno Games and North American and European publisher Trion Worlds have just released a new developer diary about their upcoming free-to-play isometric view action MMORPG, Devilian, on the game’s Youtube channel.
During the video, which you can watch below, various members of the development team explain the various elements that make up the game, which they believe will make for an enthralling and unique experience.
“It’s not just one game-long quest filled with monsters that you’re going through that you might get in other action RPGS,” said English editor Kevin VanOrd in the video.
Devilian will offer several features including 20 vs. 20 PvP battlegrounds, open-world contested bosses, guild alliances, and more, all thrown in together to make one huge game.
“There’s this sense of the world being alive when you’re surrounded by all these people,” VanOrd explained.
In Devilian, you get to play as the eponymous race of the game. Devilians are part human and part devil, which gives you powers such as devil wings and other combat abilities to lay waste to your enemies.
Since this is an action MMORPG, combat is more fast-paced than other MMOs such as World of Warcraft. 20 vs. 20 PVP matches seem to play out like some online shooters, as your objective is to capture control points and protect them against the enemy team. There will also be a 3 vs. 3 deathmatch mode, giving players a more intimate and intense experience.
Several character classes will available to choose from, however the developers say that there’s a lot of customization within each class so you can play the way you want.
“I can spec my Cannoneer to be somebody who runs and guns, or I can spec him to lay traps,” said Devilian producer Andrew Sipotz in the video. “So if I want that kind of gameplay where I am laying mines in a field, and then running enemies through them and slowing them down, I have a lot of different options.”
The Devilian development team sounded confident towards the end of the video that anyone looking for a different type of MMO than most out there would not be disappointed.
“If you’ve been waiting for an MMO that marries ARPG combat and all the social and open-world features on an MMO, Devilian is your game,” said Sipotz.
If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, you can get an early taste of the game by signing up for the beta.
